Private Garden

The garden is designed in a formal french manner based on symmetry. The main garden incorporates two levels with emphasize on cool color palettes of greens and whites, axis with vertical elements as well as white and black pathways. It is a garden for entertaining and of surprises with a stunning swimming pool and a golden fountain on the upper level and a sunken fire pit on the lower level. The garden`s 42 minimalist lamps was inspired by the garden lamps in front of Oslo City Hall. Some of the lamps have memorial plaques containing a collection of poetry, history of the estate and remembrance.

The garden has more than 5000 plants and more than 20 fruit trees. If one is lucky, a rare Atlas Moth (Atticus Atlas) can be spotted in the garden or on walls of the terraces. The Atlas moth is one of the largest lepidopterans (an order of insects that includes butterflies and moths). It can have a wingspan measuring up to 24 cm.

One of the amazing features of the garden is a three-in-one tree in the south of the estate. The tree and its roots are the logo of the estate as it was the tree that first captured the attention of the owner when first visiting the site. Local legend has it that the local king had some daugthers but no son to carry out the patriarcal line. Following the royal shaman’s advice, the king planted 3 different seeds and if the seeds managed to grow together then a male heir was to be expected. The seeds grew well together into one with intertwining branches and shared roots, and the king soon got a son thereafter. Up to this day, the big root of the trees are clearly visible spanning even to outside the estate and the branches of trees continue to intertwine with each other.
